Step One: Picking the perfect space
The first question you have to ask yourself is will a projection system fit in the room? All projectors have a different “throw” range and is altered by how far the projector is away from the screen. The throw range is marked in the product manual or can likely be found online.
Step Two: Choosing a layout
The projector should be kept as far from all windows and doorways. If the room has a window or doorway, if possible, place the screen and projector perpendicular to it. Avoid having the screen facing towards or away from a window.
Elevating the seating with a platform can also provide you with a place to hide a subwoofer.
Step Three: Placing the speakers
Speakers need to be located to the front left, center, front right, rear right and rear left. A subwoofer also needs to be located somewhere in the room. Ideally speakers need to be placed at ear level. The sound from a subwoofer is most effective by locating the speaker in the corner of the room. An electrician will be able to assist you with installing the speakers.
Step Four: The electronics
The electrical components are best installed in the same room as the home theatre system. If this is not possible, you can set up an Infrared Remote Control System to control the TV equipment. An electrician will be able to advise you on your available electrical options.
