Electrocution
To a young child, power points just beg to have something jammed into it. For your peace of mind, we can install child-safe power points with spring-loaded safety covers. They stay closed when not in use making it virtually impossible for inquisitive youngsters to be electrocuted.
If an accident occurs you want your switchboard to cut the power in milliseconds. Ceramic fuses and standard miniature circuit breakers just aren’t up to the task.
The government knows this and introduced new wiring standards in 2018. This requires that all new switchboards contain residual current circuit breakers with overload protection (RCBO). If your switchboard is older than 2018 consider getting it updated to modern standards.

House Fires
Fire & Rescue NSW attends to approximately 4500 residential house fires each year in NSW and has advised you are twice as likely to die if you don’t have a working smoke detector installed.
There are two main kinds of smoke detectors, ionisation and photoelectric. Ionisation smoke alarms are good at detecting flaming fires, whereas photoelectric smoke detectors are more effective at detecting smouldering fires (slow-burning, smokey fires).
While both types are legal by Australian standards, there has been a global shift away from ionisation smoke alarms towards photoelectric smoke alarms, with critics claiming ionisation detectors are “actually quite dangerous”. Many consumers opt for an ionisation smoke alarm simply because they are cheap, however, this is a false economy if your family succumbs to smoke inhalation.
Fire & Rescue NSW recommends you aim for a higher level of protection with interconnected alarms installed in all bedrooms and living spaces (including hallways and stairways), this gives your family more time to escape.

We called Omega Services to come out and check out our broken kitchen tap having used their services in the past for other plumbing work. Got a call back quickly which was nice, asked to describe problem. Already did that online. Told to expect plumber at... 9am (which is fine, not the afternoon though), I'm regularly up late so thought I'd sleep until then. Missed "courtesy" calls as phone on silent, they were trying to confirm I'm around. Thus job was delayed til later today. I was already told 9am so yes I am around. Andrew and Adam from Omega Plumbing and Home Services did an excellent job in renewing my Sewerage and complete drainage system of my old home in Winston Hills. Matt and Jarred initially did the investigation and provided very courteous and professional service. A mixed review. Very happy with initial response and quote. Was told two workers would be back to drain and remove old water heater. Ben arrived on his own. He was polite and efficient but it was not fair on him or us as my husband had to help him remove the heater which was... extremely heavy and awkward. The heater would not have been removed if my husband hadn't helped. We did pay for this so shouldn't have had to help. On a brighter note, both William and Jarden arrived to install the new heater. Both were very friendly and efficient and the job was successfully completed. My parents have had a few jobs completed by Omega over the years. They always rave about the staff & the great tradies they have. My husband decided to give them a go recently for a plumbing issue we had. He called, they came out the same day & gave us a price to complete the... repair. The next day a team arrived, on time I will add, & completed the work. My husband arrived home & had a few questions about the work he wasn’t sure about so he called the Omega. First Adam arrived promptly and strongly encouraged me to watch him jet the sewer line so I could understand any problems as to why sewerage overflowed outside and my house flooded with bath water. Understandably I was extremely anxious and upset with houseful of guests and... toilets not working properly and the prospect of major work to pipes. Reassured by projects manager who had Stephen and Nick arrived within couple of hours. They were joined by Todd who all had the main area of concrete cut up quickly and left tidy for main pipe replacement the next day. From the moment I called Omega Home Services, Ryan was the first to come out, our water heater was leaking. Of course it has to be replaced. Being the long weekend, Ryan left his number in case water heater broke down further, and Ryan said Omega would put in a temporary water... heater, well the heater broke down that same afternoon a temporary heater was installed.The service was prompt and efficient. We used Omega to inspect our drain due to blockage in the toilet. After the inspection, it was determined that our whole sewer line needed replacing. They started working next day. Nelson from Omega Services came and installed a brand new hot water system for us last week. The water heater delivered the first time was found to be faulty. Nelson and his colleague immediately got in touch with the company and quickly arranged for its replacement. The new one... was delivered right next day. In the meantime, to make sure that we did not have to suffer a 24-hour waiting period without hot water running in the house during winter time, Nelson and his colleague installed us a temporary hot-water system. Then, Nelson returned the next day and installed the new system for us straight away, and also gave us some good tips on how to use and maintain the new system.
